How your loan
really works.
Key concepts behind reducing-balance loans, interest amortization, and zero-interest financing.
How does the reducing-balance EMI formula work?+
Under the reducing-balance method, interest is computed each month only on the remaining outstanding principal balance. As you make each monthly payment, a portion pays off accrued interest and the remainder reduces the principal. With each passing month, the interest portion declines and the principal repayment portion increases.
How do 0% interest (No-Cost) loans work?+
In a zero-interest or no-cost EMI loan, the total principal is divided evenly across your selected tenure without adding interest charges. In some commercial schemes, retailers offer a upfront discount equivalent to the interest that would otherwise be charged by the bank.
Why is the final installment slightly adjusted?+
Because monthly payments are calculated using recurring rounding (to whole rupees or paisa), tiny fractional differences can accumulate over tenures of 10 to 30 years. Our calculator applies standard final-installment reconciliation to ensure your loan closing balance finishes exactly at ₹0.00.
